THE FIRST LISTEN

A little setup.
A lot to explore.

Start by measuring at your listening position. A reference curve helps reveal where the speakers and room are changing the recording’s balance.

01 / Life EQ is coming soon.

The public download is not available yet. This guide introduces the workflow so you can see how Life EQ will fit into your listening setup. Check release information ↗

02 / Let your music through.

Open Life EQ and choose Start processing. Allow system audio access if macOS prompts you. You can review this in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. The app uses your current default output; no audio driver is installed.

03 / Understand the correction.

Choose Graphic for ten straightforward frequency controls and Flat, Warm, Voice, Bass or Bright presets. Choose Parametric for more precise frequency, gain and Q controls. Start with small changes, and lower Output gain when boosting bands to leave headroom. Save your favourite parametric settings using the save button beside the preset menu.

04 / Get to know your space.

Expand Measure & match. Choose a microphone, position it where you listen, and start RTA to see its spectrum. For Auto Match, pause other playback, choose your speaker channel, noise level and target, then keep the microphone still. The app checks background noise for four seconds, then plays and measures pink noise for eleven seconds before fitting EQ toward the target. Selecting a target alone does not change the audio. Use Undo Match to restore your previous settings. A measurement microphone is preferable. Auto Match works from 80 Hz to 10 kHz, with one shared stereo EQ; it does not load microphone calibration files. Measure again after correction to assess the actual result at the seat.

05 / Keep the settings. Take a break.

Use Stop processing for ordinary output, or Quit to stop everything. Settings and saved presets remain available next time. Processing, microphone capture and pink noise start off on launch; start them again when you are ready.
